About the Author

Ajahn Chah was a revered Thai Buddhist monk and meditation master whose profound insights into the Dharma have illuminated the path for countless seekers worldwide. Born in 1918 in a rural village in northeast Thailand, he ordained as a novice at age nine and later pursued intensive forest meditation under the guidance of elder monks, attaining deep realization through rigorous practice. Establishing Wat Pah Pong monastery in 1954, Ajahn Chah created a thriving community that emphasized direct experience of the Buddha's teachings over intellectual analysis. His simple, compassionate style demystified complex spiritual concepts, making them accessible to both monastics and laypeople. Through translations of his talks, such as Being Dharma: The Essence of the Buddha's Teachings and Food for the Heart: The Collected Teachings of Ajahn Chah, his wisdom continues to inspire mindfulness and inner peace in modern times. Ajahn Chah passed away in 1992, leaving a legacy of serene equanimity.
