About the Author
Christa Schroeder served as one of Adolf Hitler's private secretaries from 1933 until the end of World War II, providing an intimate glimpse into the inner workings of the Nazi regime. Born in 1902 in Hanover, Germany, she joined the Führer's staff after working in a law office and quickly rose through the ranks due to her efficiency and discretion. Throughout her tenure, Schroeder accompanied Hitler on his travels, managed his correspondence, and observed the daily rhythms of his life at the Berghof and other residences. After the war, she was interned by the Allies but later released, living quietly until her death in 1984. Her memoir, 'He Was My Chief: The Memoirs of Adolf Hitler's Secretary,' offers a rare personal account from within Hitler's closest circle, blending routine details with chilling insights into his character and the regime's collapse, all while maintaining a tone of detached professionalism.
