Iraq Veterans Against The War

About the Author

Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by U.S. veterans of the Iraq War who oppose the ongoing occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. Comprising active-duty service members, reservists, and veterans, IVAW provides a platform for those who have served to voice their experiences and advocate for peace, justice, and an end to militarism. Through public testimonies, protests, and educational outreach, the group challenges the narratives of endless war and highlights the human cost of U.S. foreign policy. Their seminal work, Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan: Eyewitness Accounts of the Occupations, compiles raw, firsthand stories from veterans, offering unfiltered insights into the realities of combat and its aftermath.
