About the Author
Lisa Messeri is an anthropologist and scholar of science and technology whose work explores how people imagine, investigate, and inhabit worlds beyond Earth. Her research examines the cultural dimensions of astronomy, planetary science, and space exploration, bringing close attention to the communities and practices that make distant places meaningful. Through vivid ethnographic observation and thoughtful analysis, Messeri connects scientific discovery with questions about place, possibility, and human futures. She is the author of Placing Outer Space: An Earthly Ethnography of Other Worlds (Experimental Futures), a landmark study of how scientists construct knowledge and belonging across the cosmos.
