Sister Chan Khong, born in Vietnam in 1938, is a Buddhist nun, peace activist, and close collaborator of the renowned Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, whom she met in 1959 and has served alongside for over six decades. Ordained in 1963, she played a pivotal role in founding the Plum Village community in France and the Unified Buddhist Church, dedicating her life to mindfulness practice, social engagement, and humanitarian efforts. During the Vietnam War, she organized relief for war orphans and refugees, embodying engaged Buddhism amid conflict. Her writings draw from personal experiences of resilience and compassion, offering profound insights into applying Buddhist principles in turbulent times. Today, she continues to teach meditation and nonviolent action worldwide, inspiring countless individuals to cultivate peace within and without.
