Swami Yogananda
About the Author
Swami Yogananda, a pioneering spiritual teacher and yogi, brought the ancient wisdom of India to the Western world in the early 20th century, founding the Self-Realization Fellowship to promote meditation and self-realization. Born in 1893 in Gorakhpur, India, he immersed himself in the teachings of his guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar, and later traveled to America in 1920 to attend the International Congress of Religious Liberals. There, he established his first ashram in Boston and dedicated his life to teaching Kriya Yoga, a scientific technique for spiritual evolution. Through his writings and lectures, Yogananda emphasized the unity of all religions and the power of will to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual harmony. His seminal work, Yogoda: Or Tissue-Will System of Physical Perfection [Lessons I-III], outlines practical exercises for building vitality and inner strength, influencing countless seekers on the path to enlightenment.
