About the Author

Alexander Zonis is a distinguished architect and scholar whose work bridges the complexities of globalization with the enduring relevance of regionalism in architectural design. Drawing from his extensive experience in international projects and academic pursuits, Zonis explores how local identities and cultural contexts can thrive amidst the homogenizing forces of a flat world. His insightful analyses challenge conventional notions of modernity, advocating for designs that honor topographic and cultural 'peaks and valleys' in an interconnected era. With a background in both practice and theory, Zonis has influenced contemporary discourse on sustainable and place-based architecture, inspiring architects worldwide to rethink the interplay between global trends and rooted traditions.
