Yahya Hassan

About the Author

Yahya Hassan is a Danish poet and author whose raw and introspective voice has captivated readers across Europe, particularly with his exploration of identity, family, and the immigrant experience in contemporary society. Born in Copenhagen to Palestinian parents, Hassan's work draws deeply from his personal struggles with cultural dislocation, mental health, and societal expectations, blending vulnerability with unflinching honesty. His debut poetry collection, Yahya Hassan (Littérature Générale) (French Edition), propelled him to literary stardom at the young age of 18, selling over 100,000 copies in Denmark and sparking widespread debate on youth alienation. Despite facing personal challenges, including battles with addiction and institutionalization, Hassan's writing continues to resonate as a powerful testament to resilience and self-expression, influencing a new generation of voices in Scandinavian literature.
