About the Author

Yvette Manessis Corporon is an acclaimed author whose work draws deeply from her Greek heritage and family history, blending personal memoir with historical narrative to illuminate stories of resilience and human spirit. Born to Greek immigrant parents in New York, she grew up immersed in tales of her grandmother's life on the idyllic island of Eri, which profoundly shaped her storytelling. Corporon's debut book, Something Beautiful Happened: A Story of Survival and Courage in the Face of Evil, uncovers the hidden heroism of ordinary people during World War II, revealing how her grandmother sheltered Jewish refugees from the Nazis. A former television writer and producer, she now dedicates herself to writing, advocating for cultural preservation and the power of untold stories to foster empathy across generations.
